Benefits of meditation for beginners

By meditating for beginners, you put aside the stress of everyday life for a while. You concentrate on yourself. This will make you calmer.

It has been proven that a calm person has more room for creativity. Meditation increases this.

Because you focus inward, you learn to concentrate on a specific point. This increases concentration.

With this concentration, you focus on yourself. You learn to know yourself and listen to yourself. This allows you to recognize ailments in time. For example, mental illnesses can be prevented or fought. Self-knowledge strengthens self-confidence and willpower.

You are focused in the here and now. Yesterday or tomorrow does not matter for a while. Thus, you learn to enjoy the moment, which also leads to more peace.

General tips on meditation for beginners

When you start to meditate, there are some points that are important for the meditation to go smoothly.

For example, it is important to wear comfortable clothes. Sit in a quiet place and turn off all distractions.

Sit well upright. Your back is straight while doing this. This can be on a chair, mat, or pillow. Place your hands on your knees, close your eyes, and breathe preferably through your nose toward your stomach.

Set a time in advance. After meditation, give yourself time to relax.

During meditation, it is important to focus on a specific point. Distractions are allowed, but it is important to keep your focus on what you are doing.

In meditation for beginners, this can be experienced as a difficult point. Of course, we are happy to help you with this. Read through the following exercises quickly!

3x Meditation for Beginners

Below we give three examples of meditation exercises for beginners. Simple, quick and can be used basically anywhere.

1. Meditation on the breath (So Hum). Use full yoga breathing. Say “So” to yourself with each inhale and “Hum” with each exhale. Focus only on these words and do not get distracted by other thoughts.

2. Concentrate on a candle. While doing this, blink your eyes as little as possible. You will notice that your eyes may start to water a little. After looking at the flame of the candle, close your eyes. While doing this, hold the flame between your eyes (the third eye) while your eyes are closed.

3. Meditation with mantras. This involves repeating a word or phrase. Repetition and focus on a mantra requires a high level of concentration.

Meditate every day!

We hope we have helped you to start meditating today. Preferably every day, just a brief moment to yourself. Just because you deserve it.
